I know for a fact there are several college towns that are actually marginally Republican despite very left-leaning student populations because the vote is bundled with right-leaning populations outside the immediate college town.

It's a method of de-legitimizing existing institutions such that they can be supplanted by institutions that progressives control.

What all of us need to wrap our heads around is that the progressive left does not intend to abide by existing norms, rules, laws, etc. They will use them against their enemies when convenient, but otherwise they'll sidestep and ignore them to achieve their ends.
