its like that time on mean tweets when he said "At least I'll go down as president"
Also, he seems to be trying to take credit for the economy
I think past presidents should fade from public life, honestly, as is tradition
Also
haha
Yeah, Obama has seemed kind of like a smug dick lately. It's kind of weird like he's becoming a celebrity now. Meanwhile Trump is a blatant dick and started as a celebrity.
Wasn't Obama a nazi like a month ago?

Thomas Shea: Since you missed the point, maybe you can suggest a way that Black Americans can protest police brutality that doesnโt get your panties in a bunch. Or expound on your anger over some of the shootings of unarmed Black Americans weโve seen the last few years.
Mike Rowe: Hi Tom. What point do you suppose I'm missing? I've re-read the question several times, and don't see anything about police brutality. I've also examined my panties, and see no sign of bunching. As I stated, I don't dispute CK's right to protest, or Nike's decision to put his face on billboards across America. I just said that, personally, I'd have gone another way. You're welcome to disagree, obviously. But you're not welcome to restate a question I've already answered.
In response to Timcast: Diversity is an equity. If a society can can find a way to listen all the different points of view and come up with new ways to advance itself, diversity is an asset to that society. If the disparate voices fracture the society and the society spends all it's attention fighting against itself, diversity is a liability.
indeed
Dang it. Thought I could back on Minds to talk about diversity... Then I remember that I already have: https://www.minds.com/nine_of_swords/blog/confessing-one-of-my-biases-873786516576108544
why isnt your name "Nein of Swords" ?
Some people rotate names to make them harder to track.
I just use different names on different platforms.
Nine was short and available
Sounds to me like an argument against diversity. If everyone has this one goal....everyone being different is okay....but if everyone has this one goal...is that diversity?
Plus Nine of Swords actually is a thing and a bit put-offish to anyone who knows what it means
?
Chaos in a box.
without the box it spills all over, with the box, it's orderly.
What's the box? I only see the diversity police pushing chaos.
It's not religion, it's not morality, it's not law, it's not country....what is it?
Part of what I was saying is that diversity is meaningless as an end goal. It's value is in that it helps us see potential flaws and refine our goals.

oh, i agreed, the rest was just me pondering, though genuinely curious.
more protests in germany
Germans are so weird
better that than antifa faggotry i guess
if by germans you mean their government and by weird you mean an example of how to monumentally fail over and over again.
no, i mean doing the whole buddhist doth thou protest thing
Why does Germany fall prey to the worst popular academic ideas? Euthanasia + Peer group isolated learning with Nazis and current day Globalism + white guilt
Sitting in rehearsal for Romeo and Juliet
Yay I get to read mercutio since a person isnโt here
At least he's fun
thinking it's something in the water.
GET WOKE GO BROKE
ya didn't they remove the swimsuit part?
*sound of a plane crashing to the ground*
wtf is that hsit.
*The pageant drew a 0.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 4.3 million viewers, airing from 9-11 p.m. on ABC. That is down approximately 36% in the key demo and 19% in total viewers compared to the 1.1 and 5.4 million viewers the pageant drew last year.*
Guess they forgot how much of Hollywood and America are pedos
thats from variety
huh?
pedos?
curious how much tv ratings are down in general.
They were probably streaming it
i mean, with online alternatives.
What day was it?
what does pedos have to do with miss america ratings going down after swim swit competitino removal?
I wonder
Why do you think Hollywood's getting crazy like the MSM? It's feeling the end is near
because they are exposed
I feel that
well is the mid term elections
Maybe Snl overshadowed it
and i bet they are starting to lose all that money they saved in case of emergency
or just insane, or maybe both...
think about it, youtubers are becoming the modern celebrities.
well nobody wants that,
if it can't be controlled it must be squashed.
i think you are giving youtubers too much credit
id give more credit to people like you
I would say video games were getting the chance, but they've been hindered by their Hollywood envy
^
my point is that the structure is becoming more decentralized. that's creating panic, not only in industry but in government. Which is why you have things like internet censorship starting to take the forefront. It must be controlled or squashed.
"we don't want a homogeneous culture"
oh i see, 20 different cultures will totally lead to a strong nation when not a single one calls themselves American....
a strong 3rd world nation
Think this a good saying? You can tell a thousand lies, but they will never be able overwhelm truth.
keep us all so busy trying to feed ourselves, we don't notice the leashes.
holy shit
@Timcast TIM!!
Gulag!
i understand what tim was trying to say, but his "strength" has a big built in assumption: that everyone wants the same thing solved.
Gulag alert!
>wall with different shaped holes
and why sending a bigot to one is actually a compassionate, non-violent course of action...
...How does the left turn everything Russian?
because the real russian collusion is with the left
You'd think they'd want to be Russia ๐
oh, he made a vid, that's what u guys are talking about.
ya, definitely a disagree with him, but only because he hasn't completely thought the idea through. It's like a house with many rooms, more rooms is fine and dandy and good, but it has to be built on a solid foundation.
and in the same house
gonna have problems if someone from a different house says one of your rooms is actually part of their house
There's a lot of potential for conflating race and culture when talking about the diversity argument.
well that just complicates my simile
I don't think there's much room for argument against diversity of genes (maybe excepting genes predisposing people to diseease).
i'm taking diversity to the most general definition.
But certain cultures have really shitty ideas that out to be shitcanned.
even if you both are talking about culture, there is a line between enjoying mexican food on some nights and making a part of town that speaks only Spanish and calls everyone white dirty Americans.
Is it a good idea to embrace pederasty because it's part of different cultures?
having a section of a city that is under sharia law is not a strong city. but forcing everyone to be Christian isn't a strength either.
Imagine if you have a goal, the goal is to win a math competition. One team has nothing but mathematicians. The other team has a cook, a carpenter, a telemarketer, a pizza delivery man, etc. Who do you think is more likely to reach the goal?
there needs to be something unifying. otherwise it doesn't matter if you have someone who can fit in the hole if they refuse to go through the hole
exactly. in genetics, the unifying force is life.
Tucker's argument wasn't that everyone needs to be the same; Tucker's argument was that there needs to be some common basis around which a functional society can be formed. Some minimum agreed upon cultural norms.
everyone in a country should at least speak 1 language. you can speak more but everyone needs to speak 1.
for example
well, i would say the goal changes and that's what I asked earlier. mentioning chaos in a box. What's the box?
In western cultures that is generally democratic participation in governance, separation of church and state, assumption of innocence, unbiased disinterested courts, rule-of-law, etc
Sharia law, for example, is fundamentally incompatible with western civilization.
an emphasis on individual rights too?
Not sure that's really the case anymore...and that's where ppl have a problem with diversity.
the west isn't very western currently
its like post-western
they don't know what the box is, what the goal is, what the foundation is. Diversity can only be a strength when there is a commonality.
in his genetic example. Change the species, you have a cat and a dog. Is that diversity a strength?
do we need people who are diseased and dying? is that a strength? i mean, you are not diverse if you don't have failed genes along with surviving ones
If we want to continue the analogy of genetic diversity, eventually you get to the point where there is so much diversity within a gene pool that speciation happens and interbreeding stops being possible.
So, like I said. I agree diversity can be a strenght, but I disagree that it must be.
Agreed.
legal immigration is a way of ensuring diversity that is a strength
but thats wasict
ok, ima watch the rest now, maybe he covers these points in what i haven't watched.
then again, its racist to say you don't want your daughter to be raped if the local rape gang is known to be muslim
and i mean known...to the police known.
if you're still watching the Tucker video, I think that's most of the point Tim made.
Are you in the UK, Grenade123?
his fault is assuming that Tucker wasn't making the same point
and no, why?
Oh, that comment about the rape gang known to the police sounds like something people talk about concerning the UK.
This is perhaps another formulation of the paradox of tolerance.
i watch sargon
lol
Ah, ok.
but that was more or less the joke
saying you are afraid of your daughter being raped becomes racist and therefore "bad" if the perp is Muslim. which is ridiculous .
What's going on the UK is bonkers. Somewhere they went off the god damn rails.
when you are so afraid of being called racist, you stop going after criminals, you have lost your way
So @Timcast brings up the difference between legitimate and illegitimate authority in his banned books video today. I'd like you to reconsider the anarchist position on authority, Tim -- because even by your definition you acknowledge that authority is not something held by a person over another, but rather a deferment by a person to another they think is authoritative.
well if you think that law is our commonality, I would agree.
a lack of enforcement...we can no longer breed.
we are too diverse. cat and a dog.
Using your argument, anyone can say "I'm a doctor, put your hands on that wound" whether they're a doctor or not. Anyone can put on a uniform and say they're a police officer and "enforce" frozen zones.
That doesn't mean authority exists, it means people are deferring to someone they perceive as authority. It's no different than faith. People can have faith, but that does not objectively assert the existence of God -- it only subjectively asserts the deferment to God in that person's mind.
this vid popped up on my youtube frontpage
But even the idea of diversity is too diverse to properly quantify. It includes far too many factors just to say that you need more "diversity".
i don't watch youtube anymore, if i can help it.
u must watch jootube
Race? Skin color? Income? Wealth? Family? Relationships? Geographical location? You can't take everything into account all of the time.
Are different kinds of courts and legal systems within the same country "diversity of thought"?
generally we take it case by case.
for example. when someone breaks the law...
What about in France where some McDonalds franchise owners put up signs saying "no women allowed". It's not all McDonald's. You can just go to another. Is that diversity?
it's diversity amongst mcdonalds.
some allow, some don't, that is diversity.
Just make us fat McDonaldโs please
Diversity of law breaking. White collar crime. Violent crime. Nonviolent crime. Drug crime. Miscegenation. Slavery. And it goes on...
this is why i think tim's thought was just not thought out completely. maybe he was rushed, or maybe his leftist bubble is real ๐
I think the main problem is that when someone says "diversity" you get a different answer per person.
He's probably just not playing devil's advocate enough and being far, far, FAR too generous when it comes to assuming people are 'good' or like him.
likely.
Like that black Apple diversity woman who got fired for saying that 12 white men could be diverse for having different backgrounds.
A lot of the liberals I know have this inherent believe that people from other cultures think exactly like them, and that the only differences are different languages, cloths, food, music, etc.
context, that's why i took it to the most general definition. differences
Like if you strip away the superficial differences that people from other cultures would share the same beliefs with respect to the role of religion, justice, government, family, gender, etc.
there was actually an interesting paper a teacher handed out that kind of pointed the differences in perspective of cultures out.
Then they're shocked when a man from Jordan or Syria is completely against the idea of their sister or daughter working and living independently.
But even there you run into a problem if a certain person just doesn't follow their culture's norms/beliefs/what-have-you.
it was describing standard things that americans take for granted, in a very odd way, the way an outsider might see them. To show us, how our perspectives are different.
Oh yeah I'm not saying to pigeonhole people or pre-judge people based on their nationality.
No, I think I just jumped to the conclusion you were making.
I'm saying that you can't take it for granted that all people everywhere believe in the same basic philosophy you do.
Some people might legitimately believe there is a role for religion in government, or that families must have the final say in who you marry.
Or that it's OK to exclude people based on inherent characteristics. These notions are very shocking to liberals.
So they patronize them.
I remember that Nacirema from back in high school sociology class.
Part of the reason Islam gets a pass in extreme liberal communities. They don't really believe that some muslims have such views. They think there's a misinterpretation or misunderstanding somewhere, or that they're being tricked or deceived.
That the Muslims are somehow victims for having these beliefs.
An entire religion of victims. That's liberal paydirt.
I think they look at Muslims seeing the Koran the same way that *they* view the Bible.
And some totally do.
That it's just an old book with a bunch of outdated rules.
Had a Kuwaiti roommate once that gave zero fucks. But I think it's a safe bet that the old beliefs are widely held. Shapiro did a video on it.
Anyway, when the fundamentals of the west are being asked to be changed. That we are individuals, that we have rights and responsiblities, that we are all the same under the law, etc. That kind of diversity is not a strength. That's a recipe for chaos.
As we can see being played out...
Paradox of tolerance. We have lost confidence in the idea that our core beliefs with respect to law, governance, epistemology, metaphysics, human nature, etc, are correct.
Yep. There's a bedrock of culture that needs to be shared for people to coexist peacefully.
One thing Tucker pointed out was language.
If you literaly can't communiate with someone you can't really interact meaningfully.
A big part of diversity is assimilation which is when the people who enter a community leave their bad ideals behind and only bring in good new ones. What is gong on now isnโt that kind of diversity.
Also you can get diversity of thought by visiting other places without needing to import people.
Or via the internet
Like how Tim was saying he goes into conservative spaces.
@Timcast I'm curious, did you think Turcker was talking about Diversity of Thought?
Bringing in people with vastly different beliefs and expecting them to change/become a net positive isnโt always based in reality.
Bringing in is the key phrase
If people can make it in via the normal process, want to join the society etc then I see 0 issues
If they want to join and will change to fit in.
Part of joining a group is adopting some of the practices of the group
If you show up and refuse to participate you haven't really joined anything
There's a big difference between someone willing to work hard and play by the rules and put down something to be included vs. people just being imported without any real sacrifice on their part.
Yes you donโt get to join a group and then force the group to be like you.
(See Islam)
I've said this before, here and elsewhere, but I often find that people who deliberately move here are way more patriotic and defensive of western values than those born here
Because they chose to be here, and worked for it, and because they can see the cultural differences
Whereas a lot of people in the west have gone culture-blind when it comes to their own nation
Depends. If they're second generation in an ethnic enclave they're likely to experience problems.
They don't want to lose what they just worked so hard to get.
by "here" you mean the US right?
People who move have merit (if the immigration system is done properly). People who are born somewhere didnโt have to work to be there.
my Dem candidate is pro public option thank fucking god
