Banks cannot simply deny you your money

2018-10-02 01:06:57 UTC

Credit institutions can

2018-10-02 01:07:04 UTC

What's far scarier than seeing Paypal censor people

2018-10-02 01:07:08 UTC

if someone in power decides that you're a criminal, even if you're not, they can freeze your account, stop paypal access, etc

2018-10-02 01:07:13 UTC

is seeing Discovercard censor people.

2018-10-02 01:07:16 UTC

I'm not saying "this isn't scary"

2018-10-02 01:07:18 UTC

It is

2018-10-02 01:07:30 UTC

it's at the whims of SOMEONE is the point

2018-10-02 01:07:42 UTC

What I'm saying is before people rush out into the world, make sure you are sure of your target so you can't be kneecapped by detractors

2018-10-02 01:08:03 UTC

with crypto, you can't stop me from sending money to an address

2018-10-02 01:08:31 UTC

that's where people see value in it.

2018-10-02 01:08:59 UTC

Not getting it.

2018-10-02 01:09:13 UTC

then i'm #fired

2018-10-02 01:10:45 UTC

Okay, so the entire point of a currency is that it's representative of something else. It's a common, stable value. If a Dollar is under the Gold Standard, your dollar is worth a share of the gold. As a Fiat Currency, your dollar is worth a portion of the whole of the economy, including goods and services.

2018-10-02 01:10:58 UTC

What, exactly, is Bitcoin a share of?

2018-10-02 01:11:16 UTC

Or Etherium. or whatever, what are they a share of?

2018-10-02 01:11:59 UTC

of it only ever having 21 million in existance. it's secured by math and electricity providing digital proofs

2018-10-02 01:12:33 UTC

I drop a finite amount of deuces on the side of the road. That doesn't make any of them valuable.

2018-10-02 01:12:43 UTC

deuces?

2018-10-02 01:12:46 UTC

poo?

2018-10-02 01:13:00 UTC

When you've got to go you've got to go.

2018-10-02 01:13:11 UTC

it's worth something to someone

2018-10-02 01:13:29 UTC

bugs'll eat it, birds eat the bugs

2018-10-02 01:13:45 UTC

Hey roadcrypto.

2018-10-02 01:13:45 UTC

The more you speak the more 'Crypto' looks like a religion.

2018-10-02 01:13:59 UTC

religion based on open source software?

2018-10-02 01:14:02 UTC

sup, Miss?

2018-10-02 01:14:08 UTC

Ima pee in yo butt

2018-10-02 01:14:13 UTC

gross

2018-10-02 01:14:27 UTC

That's got some scarcity. That's gotta be worth a lot, Scrib.

2018-10-02 01:14:27 UTC

sitting or standing?

2018-10-02 01:14:42 UTC

the pics will be scarce, wanna buy em?

2018-10-02 01:15:15 UTC

ETH has actual utility doesn't it?

2018-10-02 01:15:26 UTC

I think that one actually does, yeah.

2018-10-02 01:15:31 UTC

Either that or Litecoin. I forget which one.

2018-10-02 01:15:32 UTC

I'm not a fan of eth.. it doesn't hold up to alot of what I said about crypto

2018-10-02 01:15:50 UTC

@RyeNorth and what is the difference between bit coin and the dollar? the Dollar is fiat as well.

2018-10-02 01:15:57 UTC

omg, @Scribblehatch did you just rape culture me?

2018-10-02 01:15:59 UTC

I was just catching up on CMM the other day

2018-10-02 01:16:08 UTC
2018-10-02 01:16:11 UTC

@ryuplaneswalker Entirely my point.

2018-10-02 01:16:33 UTC

@CreativeRealms I just finish watching that "IM LITERALLY SHAKING"

2018-10-02 01:16:33 UTC

There is one major difference, you can't make new bit coins once you get to the max.

2018-10-02 01:16:33 UTC

in simple terms, yes, Ethereum has "utility" in the way you can build programs on top of it

2018-10-02 01:16:37 UTC

that forum is built on EOS

2018-10-02 01:16:41 UTC

Except that Bitcoin's value is dependent on USD.

2018-10-02 01:16:42 UTC

unlike the Dollar

2018-10-02 01:16:57 UTC

but ETH is centralized

2018-10-02 01:17:05 UTC

IM CRYING BECAUSE YOUR IN MY SAFE SPACE REEEEEEEEEEEE

2018-10-02 01:17:08 UTC

Crypto is ENTIRELY dependent on being the future. Like Pokemon Cards.

2018-10-02 01:17:08 UTC

and at the whims of the Foundation

2018-10-02 01:17:15 UTC

If the infrastructure for btc goes down tomorrow yer fucked, and nobody else has to care. If USD goes down tomorrow everyone's fucked

2018-10-02 01:17:23 UTC

That is not true Rye.

2018-10-02 01:17:28 UTC

The Value of a TCG card..

2018-10-02 01:17:33 UTC

So nobody will fuck with USD and you will not feasibly lose access to USD

2018-10-02 01:17:37 UTC

is dependent on it's playability.

2018-10-02 01:17:44 UTC

But you can for btc

2018-10-02 01:17:47 UTC

Not true either

2018-10-02 01:17:56 UTC

That's not entirely true.

2018-10-02 01:18:00 UTC

Yes it is Rye

2018-10-02 01:18:34 UTC

There are cards not even attached to games that accumulate value based on rarity

2018-10-02 01:18:47 UTC

Yes

2018-10-02 01:18:54 UTC

but..there is a reason a Beta Black lotus is 2K

2018-10-02 01:18:59 UTC

Also

2018-10-02 01:18:59 UTC

and a Beta healing Salve is 3

2018-10-02 01:19:04 UTC

ONE

2018-10-02 01:19:05 UTC

is playable

2018-10-02 01:19:07 UTC

the other is not

2018-10-02 01:19:22 UTC

you guys totally lost me now ๐Ÿ˜‚

2018-10-02 01:19:23 UTC

wrong one.

2018-10-02 01:19:24 UTC

lol

2018-10-02 01:19:37 UTC

Rye - Black Lotus is 2K because it is the most powerful card in the game

2018-10-02 01:20:00 UTC

Bitcoin is technically finite isn't it?

2018-10-02 01:20:05 UTC

it is

2018-10-02 01:20:07 UTC

No, it's a function of it's scarcity and it's playability.

2018-10-02 01:20:17 UTC

and if it were unplayable

2018-10-02 01:20:20 UTC

it would be 3 Dollars

2018-10-02 01:20:30 UTC

Probably not. Alpha cards are still worth a lot.

2018-10-02 01:20:43 UTC

The price of Bitcoin should, ideally, reflect the cost of producing it. I'm positive it still doesnt

2018-10-02 01:20:59 UTC

it costs around 6k usd to make a bitcoin right now

2018-10-02 01:21:00 UTC

on average

2018-10-02 01:21:12 UTC

Oh so it's accurate now no?

2018-10-02 01:21:13 UTC

let me get the pic

2018-10-02 01:21:23 UTC

Rye - Alpha black lotus is playable.

2018-10-02 01:21:28 UTC

you just have to use sleeves

2018-10-02 01:21:57 UTC

Nothing disgusts me more than seeing a person cry for an inadequate reason.

2018-10-02 01:23:31 UTC

the cost comes from the electricity it takes to crunch numbers of cryptographic proofs

2018-10-02 01:24:06 UTC

the math gets pretty complicated, I would do a terrible job of explaining it

2018-10-02 01:24:31 UTC

Wtf.

2018-10-02 01:24:37 UTC

How does that work in Venezuela?

2018-10-02 01:24:50 UTC

(there is no electricity)

2018-10-02 01:24:57 UTC

(Yes there is)

2018-10-02 01:25:00 UTC

(I have a friend there)
