I just pointed out to my buddy on our way to TN yesterday how rock and punk.. And early metal are evolutions of Southern Black American blues, etc. Prog stuff later was sort of evolutions of Jazz.

And the newest versions of these heavier prog bands are more titled to European style theory. Yet its become cuckier as it goes.

I dunno, I have never really had an issue with NSBM quality. Depends on what you listen to I guess. I know Moloth and Wolfnacht would blow several big BM bands out of the water.
